Welcome to the first A Foraged Nest Blog post of 2025!

Welcome to the blog! Whether this is your first visit or you’re returning, I’m delighted to have you here. I started this blog in early 2024, but life threw me some curveballs, and I had to pause. The dreams I had of sharing life’s most beautiful moments with you were put on hold. Later this year, I’ll open up more about that journey as I find the right words to express all of my thoughts.

For now, let’s focus on the excitement of a new year! I can’t wait to share everything I’ve been planning.

This year, the blog will have a clear direction, with new posts every Friday morning. Here are the key themes we’ll explore together:

  • Legacy Cooking
  • Sustainable Living
  • Slow and Intentional Living
  • Community Connection
  • The Healing Power of Nature
  • Timeless Household Tips and Folk Remedies

Legacy Cooking

Legacy cooking is all about rediscovering recipes and techniques passed down through generations. I’ll be sharing recipes preserved from before the 1900s to more modern times, each rooted in tradition. These recipes focus on cooking from scratch, using wholesome ingredients, and embracing slower, more thoughtful methods.

However, this isn’t about perfection or rigid rules. It’s about finding balance and savoring the process. Sometimes, balance looks like a bowl of cereal for dinner—because that’s exactly what you need in the moment!

Sustainable Living

Sustainability has become a big focus in recent years, and most of us already understand the basics. Here, I’ll approach it from a perspective of joy and practicality. It’s about making choices that feel good and fit your lifestyle—not just following trends.

For example:

  • What can you grow in your yard or garden?
  • How can a trip to your local thrift store replace the need for something new?

Slow and Intentional Living

This theme will focus on creating daily rituals and routines that bring harmony to your life. It’s about cherishing small, meaningful moments rather than rushing through the day.

Supporting Your Community

Thoughtful living extends to how we engage with our communities. Supporting local businesses, whether in your hometown or within the U.S., strengthens those connections. We’ll also explore ways to give back globally, finding meaningful ways to contribute beyond borders.

The Healing Power of Nature

This year, I want to highlight the restorative effects of spending time outdoors. While I’m not offering medical advice, I’ll share insights on the simple yet profound benefits of fresh air, sunlight, water, and the natural world. Together, we’ll explore how reconnecting with nature can nurture our well-being.

Timeless Household Tips and Folk Remedies

I’ll be drawing inspiration from handwritten vintage notes and letters that embody a back-to-basics lifestyle, focusing on simplicity and the use of clean, wholesome ingredients.

Speaking of making the most of resources, I’ll be exploring my local surroundings—my backyard, nearby forests, farmers markets, fairs, restaurants, and small businesses. It’s about embracing the beauty and opportunities right in front of me.

My photography will play a big role in these adventures and will be featured frequently. You can visit my website, mpstockphotos.com, where my blog will be updated every Friday morning—perfect for some weekend inspiration.

If you own a local business and are interested in collaborating, I’d love to hear from you!  Feel free to reach out to me at: mpstockart@gmail.com.
